For many children entering the foster system, removal day is one of the hardest days of their life. In the middle of fear, transition, and uncertainty, many children are forced to carry their belongings in trash bags.

The Duffle Bag Project exists to help change that.

Through the generosity of donors, volunteers, churches, families, and partner organizations, we provide children with new, durable 22″ duffle bags embroidered with Joshua 1:9. Each bag is created to give a child something that belongs to them, something they can carry with dignity, and a visible reminder that they are never alone.

Each child also receives a colorfully tabbed, kid-friendly Bible, if they would like one, offering a message of hope during what may be one of the darkest chapters of their life.

Why Duffle Bags Matter

A duffle bag may seem simple, but to a child in crisis, it can mean so much more.

It says:

You are worth more than a trash bag.
You deserve dignity.
You are seen.
You are loved.
You are not forgotten.

Our mission is two-fold. First, we provide a practical need by giving children new, durable bags to carry their belongings. Second, we share a message of hope by pointing children to the One who offers lasting love, courage, and purpose.

Every embroidered bag is more than a donation. It is a reminder that someone cared enough to prepare something just for them.

Provide New Duffle Bags

Each child receives a durable 22″ duffle bag they can use to carry their belongings with dignity. These bags are intentionally chosen to be practical, useful, and long-lasting.

Embroider Every Bag with Joshua 1:9

Each bag is embroidered with Joshua 1:9 as a reminder to be strong and courageous. This verse is placed on every bag to encourage children that they are not alone, even in the middle of fear and uncertainty.

Include Kid-Friendly Bibles

Each child is offered a colorfully tabbed Bible designed to be approachable and easy to use. Our prayer is that these Bibles help children draw near to the One who can provide the love, hope, and peace they are seeking.

Partner with Organizations Serving Children

We work with foster care organizations, ministries, and other partners to help get bags into the hands of children and individuals who need them most. By partnering with others, we are able to expand our reach both locally and internationally.

Respond to Needs Beyond Foster Care

While our primary focus is children entering the foster system, we have also been blessed to serve others in need. Through donations of bags, clothing, toys, and supplies, we have helped support single mothers, refugees, and vulnerable families.
